Where to Buy Egg Cartons in Vietnam: Top 10 Suppliers Compared

Molded pulp egg cartons and sustainable egg trays produced in Vietnam packaging facility by BonitoPak

Vietnam has become a serious alternative for buyers who want molded fiber packaging from outside China. The pulp molding sector there is younger and smaller, but it is real, and for some buyers the tariff position makes it worth a quote.

This guide names ten egg carton suppliers in Vietnam, says what each is confirmed to produce, and sets out the checks to run before you order. It also covers where Vietnam competes and where it does not, because a guide that only lists names is not much use.

How this list was built. Vietnamese molded fiber companies publish far less in English than Chinese ones do. Some below have detailed product pages. Others appear in Vietnamese business directories with only a name, a location, and a category. I have marked which is which rather than writing ten confident profiles from thin data. Treat the second group as leads to qualify, not vetted suppliers.

What to Know About Sourcing from Vietnam First

Three things shape every quote you will get.

The sector is smaller than China’s. Vietnam has fewer dedicated pulp molding plants, fewer in-house tooling teams, and a shorter track record on export documentation. For simple dry-pressed egg trays that rarely matters. For custom tooling, ask who cuts the molds.

Much of the capacity is foreign-invested. Several of the larger pulp tray plants are owned by Chinese, Taiwanese, or Singaporean groups operating Vietnamese facilities. That often means better process control, but it affects country-of-origin questions. If your reason for buying egg cartons Vietnam-side is tariff related, confirm origin with your customs broker.

Clusters sit in four areas. Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City dominate, with Hai Phong and Hanoi serving the north. Binh Duong holds the highest concentration of pulp molding plants.

The Ten Suppliers

The ten egg carton suppliers in Vietnam below are split into two groups by how much is verifiable about each.

Verified Egg Packaging Specialists

These five have published egg carton or egg tray product information.

1. Techper Vietnam Technology Joint Stock Company Based in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong, and also trading as Moldedpulp Viet Nam. The clearest egg packaging specialist on this list. Confirmed products include 6, 10, and 30-egg formats, with custom printing, logo and QR code application, and cartons described as suitable for automated packing lines. Operates facilities across Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, and Long An. Best for: buyers who want a Vietnamese supplier with published specs and custom printing in one place. Check: tooling ownership and whether molds are cut in house or sourced.

2. Le Thanh Import Export Service Trading Production Co., Ltd Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Tan District. Over ten years in operation, producing trays from 10 to 30 eggs. Best for: standard tray formats in the 10 to 30 cell range. Check: whether retail carton formats with lids are available, since the published range reads as flats.

3. Van Nam Trading and Import Export Service Joint Stock Company Head office in Soc Son District, Hanoi, with a factory in Tan Tru district, Long An province. Publishes specific tray dimensions of roughly 29.5 by 28.5 by 4.5 cm at about 70 to 75 grams, which is a standard 30-cell flat. Best for: northern Vietnam sourcing and buyers who want published dimensions to compare. Check: export experience, since the published material is Vietnamese-market facing.

4. Phong Nguyen Plastic Manufacturing Trading Co., Ltd Ho Chi Minh City, District 1. Founded 2013. Molded pulp sits alongside a broader product range that includes wrapping paper, shoe soles, and roofing tiles. Best for: buyers already sourcing other categories who want to consolidate. Limitation: molded pulp is one line among several rather than the core business.

5. Anh Phat Green Technology Joint Stock Company Bu Dang District, Binh Phuoc Province. Positions around recycled paper packaging. Best for: buyers who want a recycled-content story from a Vietnamese supplier. Check: whether egg formats are in the catalog, and what certifications are held.

Molded Fiber Plants to Qualify

These five appear in Vietnamese industry directories as pulp tray manufacturers. Their location and category are confirmed. Their egg carton capability is not, so treat each as a lead.

6. Honha Eco Pulp Viet Nam. Hung Yen province, northern Vietnam. Listed as a pulp tray manufacturer. The name suggests a dedicated molded fiber focus, which makes it worth a first call.

7. Vietfarm Production Trading Company Limited. Ho Chi Minh City. Listed under pulp trays. The agricultural name suggests possible egg and produce packaging relevance.

8. Sarnti Green Pack Viet Nam Company Limited. Hai Phong City. Listed as a pulp tray manufacturer, and one of the few northern-port options, which matters for freight if you ship from Haiphong.

9. Binh Duong YUTO Packaging Technology Co., Ltd. Binh Duong province. Part of a larger international packaging group operating in Vietnam. Likely stronger on process control and on higher-specification work, and likely higher minimums.

10. Shenghe Pulp Tray. Ho Chi Minh City. Listed as a pulp tray manufacturer, with minimal public information in English, so qualification takes a direct conversation.

How to Qualify a Vietnamese Supplier

The same questions work for any of the ten. Run them before you decide where to buy egg cartons Vietnam-side, not after a sample disappoints.

  1. Ask for egg formats by count and grade. A supplier who lists “egg tray” without a cell specification has not told you whether their cells fit your eggs. Send sample eggs, and see our guide to egg carton sizes and counts for how count and grade pair up.
  2. Ask who cuts the tooling. In-house mold design is a meaningful advantage. If molds are outsourced, lead times and revision rounds both get longer.
  3. Ask for the minimum order and whether it is per item or per color. Minimums vary widely, and color changeovers often carry their own.
  4. Ask about certifications you actually need. If you sell compostable claims in the US, BPI certification under ASTM D6400 matters. If you sell into the EU, OK Compost under EN 13432 does. Many smaller plants hold neither.
  5. Ask for export references to your market. A plant selling mostly domestically may be excellent and still be new to US customs documentation.
  6. Ask for units per container. Molded fiber fills a container by volume long before weight, so units per container is what turns a freight quote into a per-unit cost. Our article on what drives price at volume covers that arithmetic.
  7. Request samples before tooling. Test with your real eggs, your real case, and your real route.

Where Vietnam Competes, and Where It Does Not

Being straight about this is more useful than selling a country.

Vietnam egg tray manufacturers earn a place on your list under some conditions and not others.

Vietnam is worth a quote when:

  • You want supply chain diversification away from a single country
  • Your tariff position favors Vietnamese origin, confirmed with your broker
  • You need standard dry-pressed trays and flats rather than fine-finish retail packs
  • You are already sourcing other categories from Vietnam and can consolidate freight

China is usually still stronger when:

  • You need custom tooling with in-house mold design and fast revision cycles
  • You want six-color pulp systems or close Pantone matching
  • You need wet-pressed cartons with a retail-quality surface
  • You want BPI and OK Compost certification already in place
  • You need a supplier with deep US export documentation experience

Those are the gaps BonitoPak was built to fill, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise in a guide like this. Our molded pulp egg cartons and custom egg trays run on both dry and wet press lines with tooling cut in house, from 1,000 pieces. If you are comparing countries, our buyer’s guide to US egg tray manufacturers gives you the domestic side of the same comparison.

What It Costs to Get Wrong

Two failures account for most bad outcomes when buying egg cartons Vietnam-side or anywhere else.

Cell fit. A tray cut for one egg grade will not hold another securely, and eggs that rock in a cell crack in transit. Our guide to designing a custom pulp egg tray covers the measurements to send with your specification.

Tooling committed too early. A production mold that needs a geometry change is generally replaced rather than modified. Sample first, always.

Before You Send an Enquiry

Have these ready and you will get usable quotes rather than vague ones:

  • Egg type, grade, and measured width and length of your largest regular eggs
  • Count and format, open flat or closed carton with a lid
  • Annual volume and first order quantity
  • Fiber preference, recycled paper or bagasse
  • Color, printing, and any label flat requirements
  • Destination port and incoterm you want quoted
  • Any certification your market requires

Send the same package to several suppliers on the same day. Comparable inputs produce comparable quotes, which is how a list like this becomes a decision.

Making the Comparison Properly

Vietnam egg tray manufacturers are a real option, and the five specialists above are a sensible place to start. Qualify the directory entries before you treat them as suppliers, confirm origin if tariffs are your reason for looking, and judge every quote on landed cost per unit rather than factory price.

If what you actually need is custom tooling, certified compostability, and a retail-grade finish, compare any Vietnamese quote against a Chinese one before deciding. At BonitoPak we have run molded pulp from Dongguan for over twenty years, ship to more than fifty countries, and are happy to be compared directly. Send us your egg specification and your volume and we will quote alongside whoever else you are talking to.

FAQs

Q: Is it cheaper to buy egg cartons from Vietnam than China? A: Not reliably. Unit prices are broadly comparable, and Vietnam’s smaller pulp molding sector means less competition on custom work. Compare landed cost per unit, including freight and duty, rather than factory quotes alone.

Q: Do Vietnamese suppliers offer custom printed egg cartons? A: Some do. Techper Vietnam publishes custom printing including logos and QR codes. Most others do not state printing capability publicly, so confirm it directly and ask for printed samples before committing to tooling.

Q: What minimum order should I expect from molded pulp Vietnam suppliers? A: Minimums among molded pulp Vietnam plants are not widely published and vary by format. Ask whether the minimum applies per order or per item, and whether each color counts separately, since color changeovers often carry their own minimum.

Q: Will Vietnamese origin change my import duty? A: It can, depending on your classification and current trade policy. Country of origin also depends on where manufacturing substantially occurs, which matters because several Vietnamese plants are foreign-owned. Confirm with a licensed customs broker.

Q: Which Vietnamese region should I source from? A: Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City hold the most pulp molding capacity, with Hai Phong and Hanoi serving the north. Pick based on your export port, since inland trucking in Vietnam adds both cost and transit days.
