Buying egg cartons looks simple until you try it. A backyard flock owner wants 200 printed cartons. A regional packer needs truckloads that run clean through a grading line. A brand wants a colored carton nobody else on the shelf has. Those are three different buying problems, and no single supplier solves all of them.

This guide covers ten egg carton suppliers in the USA, grouped by who they suit best. We worked from each company’s own materials and recent trade coverage, and we say where we could not confirm something. One disclosure: BonitoPak publishes this guide and is on the list. We put ourselves last and describe our limits plainly.

Freedonia valued US egg packaging at about $1.3 billion in 2024 and expects it to reach roughly $1.5 billion by 2028. It also expects foam carton bans and sustainability goals to push demand toward molded fiber and recycled plastic. For buyers, that means more fiber capacity is coming online, but the largest producers still sell mainly to big packers and retailers. Smaller farms usually buy through distributors or regional programs.

In the US it produces cartons at its Rolla, Missouri plant, and its North American headquarters sits in Brantford, Ontario. Both plants were slated for expansion through 2025. The range runs from 12-count HartTop flat-top cartons aimed at organic and cage-free eggs to cartons with paperboard lids that carry branding.

Best for: packers and retailers running grading lines at volume.

Keep in mind: smaller farms can buy Hartmann cartons through The Egg Carton Store (#6), which says it is Hartmann’s exclusive small-farm distributor.

Pactiv Evergreen, based in Lake Forest, Illinois, became part of Novolex when that deal closed on April 1, 2025. It sells molded fiber egg cartons and filler flats alongside clear PET cartons. In January 2025 it announced FSC-Recycled certification for its fiber egg packaging, confirming 100 percent recycled content.

Best for: buyers who want fiber and PET cartons from one supplier.

Keep in mind: the merger is recent, so confirm account contacts and lead times directly.

Tekni-Plex runs the Dolco brand, which it calls the largest US producer of foam egg cartons. It also offers PET cartons made from 100 percent recycled resin and molded fiber, across more than eight manufacturing sites in the US and Mexico. The company says it makes over 1.5 billion egg cartons a year.

Best for: packers who want foam, PET, and fiber from one source, especially mid-transition.

Keep in mind: foam is its historic strength, so compare its fiber line against fiber specialists if fiber is your end goal.

Huhtamaki, the maker of Chinet tableware, entered US egg cartons with molded fiber made from 100 percent recycled North American material. Production is in Hammond, Indiana, following a $100 million plant expansion announced in 2022. It sells Smiley-Front and FlatTop cartons in 12- and 18-count sizes, in several colors.

Best for: packers moving off foam who want US-made fiber with color options.

Keep in mind: the listed sizes are 12 and 18 count, so ask about other counts and printing minimums.

Zellwin presents itself as Huhtamaki’s egg packaging operation in Zellwood, Florida. It makes molded fiber cartons, flats, and printed and custom printed cartons, and it targets farms that want clear pricing and flexible quantities. Same parent as #4, but a different route in for smaller buyers.

Best for: farms and regional brands that want printed cartons without packer-scale volume.

Keep in mind: we found no published prices or minimums, so get both in writing.

This family-owned online supplier sells paper-pulp, plastic, and foam cartons, flats, and pads to backyard keepers, homesteaders, and commercial producers. Orders run from a few cartons to pallets and truckloads. Pre-printed options cover Grade A sizes, nutrition facts, and UPC codes. Custom printed cartons start at 25,000.

Best for: small and mid-size farms, especially those buying stock or pre-printed cartons.

Keep in mind: a 25,000-carton minimum is steep for a farmers’ market operation, so pre-printed stock is the realistic route at that size.

Haul is a New York custom packaging company that markets printed egg cartons in half-dozen and dozen sizes for chicken and duck eggs. It pitches to both small farms and larger distributors, and says its minimums are accessible for small farms.

Best for: farms and brands that want designed, branded cartons.

Keep in mind: the page we reviewed gives no minimum, material spec, or production location, so ask all three before ordering.

CKF Inc. acquired Molded Fiber Technology in 2022 to form MFT-CKF, which runs molded fiber plants in Clinton, Iowa and El Paso, Texas. Both hold ISO 9001:2015 certification. The company grew out of the traditional egg carton process, and its parent lists an egg carton line called Eggstra. Freedonia counts MFT-CKF among leading US egg packaging suppliers.

Best for: buyers who need custom engineered fiber packaging alongside cartons.

Keep in mind: its US sites focus heavily on protective and industrial fiber, so confirm egg carton availability for your region.

Sonoco, based in Hartsville, South Carolina, appears beside Hartmann, Tekni-Plex, Pactiv Evergreen, and MFT-CKF in Freedonia’s list of leading US egg packaging suppliers. Its public pages give less carton-level detail than the others here.

Best for: large buyers already working with Sonoco.

Keep in mind: we could not confirm current egg carton specifications, so treat it as a quote conversation, not a catalog purchase.

We make molded pulp egg cartons and trays at our facility in Dongguan, Guangdong, and ship to more than 50 countries. We are not a domestic option. What we offer is custom egg trays cut per project, so cell geometry, count, fiber, and color match your spec rather than a catalog. We color at the wet end across six pulp systems with better than 95 percent Pantone accuracy, so the shade runs through the fiber instead of sitting on a coating. See our цветные картонные коробки для яиц for how that looks in practice. Sample molds take 7 days, production molds follow 8 days after geometry approval, and minimums start at 1,000 pieces. For stronger distribution packs, we also make dry-press corrugated pulp egg cartons.

Best for: brands and specialty producers who need custom color, bird-specific cells, or a shape a domestic catalog does not offer.

Keep in mind: imports add ocean freight, duty, and several weeks of transit. Tariff rates change, so confirm current duty with a licensed customs broker before you commit.

Start with volume, because it decides almost everything else. Under a few thousand cartons, buy stock or pre-printed cartons through a distributor. In the tens of thousands, regional programs and custom printed egg cartons become realistic. At packer scale, you deal with manufacturers directly.

Freedonia names Hartmann, Tekni-Plex, Pactiv Evergreen, MFT-CKF, and Sonoco among leading US egg packaging suppliers. Huhtamaki has also entered the market with US-made fiber cartons.

Online distributors such as The Egg Carton Store sell blank and pre-printed cartons in small quantities. Regional programs like Zellwin also serve farms.

It varies widely. The Egg Carton Store lists 25,000 cartons for custom print. BonitoPak starts custom egg trays at 1,000 pieces. Several suppliers publish no figure, so ask before you design anything.

It depends on your market. Fiber uses recycled content and fits foam-restricted areas, while foam remains common and inexpensive. Check local rules and test both on your line.

|
